The Edward and Mary Lord Foundation has pledged $100,000 toward MyHealthDirect, an innovative tool at Backus Hospital that links patients who lack a primary care physician with appropriate healthcare providers. This provides more timely and ongoing care for patients, and reduces visits to the emergency room.
"Nine nurses were in the spotlight Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at the 4th Nurse Residency Tea. And that spotlight was awfully bright. These new nurses brought smiles and even tears as they presented their patient care case studies and lessons learned during their participation in Backus Hospital’s Nurse Residency Program. They learned the value of taking the time to talk to families, the little things that can help when times are tough and how to assert themselves when needed. In short, they learned to put patients first. Congratulations to all of our Nurse Residency Program graduates, and we wish you well in your new jobs at Backus Hospital."
