Newest member joins Colchester team
January 20, 2012
Kristie Tapper, APRN, joined the Colchester Backus Health Center in January.
“As a registered dietitian (RD) and certified diabetes educator (CDE) I worked with multi-disciplinary teams in caring for patients. I was inspired by the nurses and nurse practitioners to take on a role that allowed for more involvement in patient care,” she said. “I became a nurse and it was even more fulfilling than I’d anticipated.”
She said she is excited about being in a community setting after working in a city hospital for the past couple of years. “I am looking forward to getting to know the community and community providers,” she said. She said she is excited to join the Backus Hospital team, and saw this as an opportunity for growth. “I have moved around a lot for my education, but I am glad to be settling into a permanent position.”
Ms. Tapper worked at as an RN at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from March 2009 through December 2011. She previously worked as an RD, CDE in hospitals and ambulatory settings in Boston and the surrounding area.
She attended the University of Vermont for her bachelor’s degree in dietetics, then went to Bowling Green State University in Ohio for her master’s degree. She attended Northeastern University in Boston for her nursing degree and Adult Advanced Practice RN training.
