Backus to host discussion on sarcoidosis

(Norwich, Conn.) – The William W. Backus Hospital will host “Understanding Sarcoidosis” on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 5-6 p.m. at the Backus Outpatient Care Center, 111 Salem Turnpike in Norwich. The talk will be presented by Sandeep Varma, MD, Medical Director of the Backus Arthritis Center.

Sarcoidosis is the growth of tiny collections of inflammatory cells in different parts of the body — most commonly the lungs, lymph nodes, eyes and skin. General symptoms include fatigue, fever, swollen lymph nodes and weight loss.
