Jim Calhoun to speak at Backus Cancer Survivors Event

(Norwich, Conn.) – Jim Calhoun, former UConn Huskies men’s basketball coach and prostate cancer survivor, will be the keynote speaker at Backus Hospital’s Cancer Survivors’ Day Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the hospital grounds.
During his tenure at UConn, Mr. Calhoun led his team to three national championships in 1999, 2004, and 2011. Under his leadership, the team also played in four Final Fours in 2011, won the 1988 NIT championship, and won 17 Big East Championships. In 2005, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
