Backus surgeon to discuss treatment of painful back condition

NORWICH - Dr. Camille Salame, a neurosurgeon on the Backus Medical Staff, will discuss symptoms and treatment of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis, an ailment that commonly develops in people over the age of 50, on March 24 at 6 p.m. in the Backus Hospital entry level conference rooms. Symptoms include dull or aching back pain spreading to the legs; numbness in legs, calves or buttocks; weakness or a loss of balance; and decreased endurance.
Treatments include medication, cortisone injections, rest, physical therapy and surgery.
