More than 600 cancer survivors, families and friends gathered Saturday at Backus Hospital to celebrate survivorship. As part of Cancer Survivors Day some speakers spoke about their own experiences with cancer and Bernie Siegel, MD, a nationally recognized inspirational speaker and author, spoke about the importance of surrounding yourself with love and support while going through treatments. The Laura B. Seder Memorial Golf Tournament that took place Friday, October 5th at the Mohegan Sun Country Club at Pautipaug was a great success. The weather was perfect and the golfers and sponsors had a great time. Thanks to all who contributed through their sponsorships and participation. Funds raised from this meaningful outing will be directed to the Laura B. Seder Memorial Fund in support of the Backus Breast Health Initiative.
