Children’s Easter Party at Backus

Children and grandchildren ages 1-7 of hospital employees, physicians and volunteers had a great day of cookie decorating, coloring, face painting and hunting for Easter eggs during the annual Children's Easter party Saturday at Backus. Thanks to all of the Employee Activity Group folks and their helpers for putting this fun event together.

Backus Hospital to host job fair for Plainfield Emergency Care Center

NORWICH – The William W. Backus Hospital will host a Job Fair for the Plainfield Backus Emergency Care Center, on Tuesday, April 17, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Plainfield Town Hall Auditorium at 8 Community Avenue.

Backus Hospital to sponsor smoking cessation program

NORWICH – The William W. Backus Hospital will offer the American Lung Association’s “Freedom From Smoking” a program focusing on group support and behavior modification beginning May 1.

Diagnostic Imaging dodgeball teams support Madonna Place

The Backus Diagnostic Imaging Department fielded three dodgeball teams that joined several other local teams in support of Madonna Place's fifth annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament that took place Saturday, March 24 at the Samuel Huntington School in Norwich. Child Care Artists Shine at Backus Art Show

The creative efforts of budding young artists at the Mary Allen Ross Child Care Center at Backus could be seen at a Children's Art Show which was held Thursday, March 22 at Backus in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Child Care Center. The artwork will continue to be on display at various locations in the hospital for the next several weeks.

Backus Bennies Recognizes The Champion in All of Us

In a special night complete with red carpet, Hollywood movie clips and paparazzi, guests decked out in evening gowns and tuxedos honored several members of the community for their generosity during the Inaugural Backus Bennies event at the Backus Business and Technology Center.

Nurse finds herself in patient’s role

One day she was working as clinical director of A-3, the next day she was a patient herself. This sudden turn of events occurred on Oct. 16, 2011, when Terri Biss, RN, was diagnosed with leukemia.

NORWICH – The William W. Backus Hospital will host a patient safety fair on Tuesday, March 6 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in honor of National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 4-10.

Backus to host medication seminar

NORWICH – The William W. Backus Hospital will host the Enjoy LIFE (Lifelong Investment in Fitness and Exercise) seminar, “Brown Bag Medication Review” on Thursday, March 15 from 6:30-8 p.m. on the Backus mobile health van in the parking lot of the Plainfield Recreation Center, 482 Norwich Road.
