Medical Coverage

Backus Hospital offers comprehensive medical coverage. This coverage includes free preventive care for infants, children, and adults, as well as extensive coverage for illnesses. Coverage is offered for both in-network and out-of-network service provides with additional savings when services are rendered here at Backus Hospital. Coverage includes routine vision exams and a prescription drug benefit.


Dental Coverage

Two dental plans are offered with the emphasis on preventive care, which is covered at 100%. The plan also provides coverage for basic and major restorative care, (with a maximum of $1,000 or $1,200 depending on plan selected, per year, per person).


Medical & Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts

Tax sheltered Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to pay for unreimbursed medical and dependent care expenses on a tax-free basis.


Life Insurance

Backus Hospital employees enjoy the benefits of a Group Term Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance plan. The amount of coverage is dependent upon the employee’s salary, and is offered at no cost to the employee. For added security, a Supplemental Life insurance plan is also available for employees and their dependents.

Short Term Disability Plan

In the event of non-work related disability, Backus Hospital pays 70% of base rate up to 120 calendar days after a 14 calendar day elimination period after one year of service. The benefit is offered at no cost to employees.


Long Term Disability Plan

In the event of an extended period of disability, Backus Hospital provides salary protection through a Long Term Disability Plan. This benefit is provided at no cost to the employee.


Retirement Plan

The Hospital offers a Defined Contribution (DC) Plan which offers elective employee deferrals and non-elective Employer Contributions for eligible employees. There is a 3 year vesting rule for the Non-elective Employer Contributions.

Tuition Reimbursement

We encourage our staff to continually develop and improve skills that allow us to provide our patients with the best care possible. We offer financial incentives and assistance in the form of tuition reimbursement for job-related and degree program coursework.
