Along with regular visits with your medical oncologist, this program provides information on a variety of topics to assist you in your journey forward as a cancer survivor. We encourage you to take part in this program to maintain balance and optimal health.
Center for Healthcare Integration (CHI)
CHI is dedicated to the integration of mind, body, spirit and emotions for your health and healing.
Massage, Healing Touch, Reiki, Reflexology and Pet Therapy are offered for inpatients and for outpatients during the active and recovery phases of radiation and chemotherapy. We also provide information for your continued health and wellness.
Mental Health and Support Groups
Cancer and treatments can take a serious toll on survivors’ mental and emotional states, but these important issues can be addressed.
A survivor’s self-image and body-image can be sharply affected by cancer and the side effects of treatment. Some form of anxiety is almost impossible to avoid as a survivor. It is important to recognize the symptoms of anxiety and depression, so you can seek help.
Rehabilitation Services / Exercise
Various types of rehabilitation services are available at Backus including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.
If you are experiencing any of the following signs or symptoms, you may benefit from one or more of these skilled services.
Nutrition needs during cancer treatments and after active care can be unique to each survivor, but there are some very basic nutritional goals that are common to all survivors.
Working in collaboration with your doctor and licensed nutritionists, we can help you develop an individualized approach to manage your diet and goals for optimal health.
