The first baby born at Backus Hospital in 2010 was in no real hurry to welcome the new year. Little Madeline Boyer, daughter of Julie Sullivan and Tom Boyer of New London, arrived at 8:57 p.m. New Years night.

More than 800 cancer survivors and their loved ones attended Cancer Survivors Day at Backus on Saturday, Oct. 3. WFSB-3 weatherman and entertainer Scot Haney was the keynote speaker. Mr. Haney also spent time visiting cancer patients and Backus staff on the oncology unit of the hospital.
