October 1, 2011
NORWICH – The Backus Outpatient Care Center at 111 Salem Turnpike in Norwich will offer EKG services beginning Monday, Oct. 3. Testing will take place in the Laboratory drawing station area and will be available during the lab’s normal hours of operation. Hours are Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.
An EKG is an electrocardiogram, a simple test that records the heart’s electrical activity. It shows how fast the heart is beating, whether the heartbeat rhythm is steady or irregular, and the strength and time of electrical signals as they pass through the heart. Physicians use EKGs to detect heart problems including heart attacks, arrhythmias and heart failure.
