Backus collection lab moving to new Norwichtown home
October 11, 2012
NORWICH – To enhance convenience for patients, Backus Hospital will move the lab drawing station on the hospital’s ground floor at 326 Washington Street in Norwich to a newly constructed facility next to United Community and Family Services at 55 Town Street in Norwichtown. The new lab will open Monday, Nov. 5.
In addition to lab draws, the state-of-the-art facility will offer EKG tests. The hours will change to better meet the needs of fasting patients in the morning and include one late night per week. Lab hours will be: Monday-Wednesday, 6 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday, 6 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 6 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Saturday, 6 a.m.-noon.
Les Temkin, Backus Vice President, Clinical Operations, said the new lab will offer ample parking and will be much easier to access than the lab at the hospital, where patients need to search for parking and take stairs or the elevator.
He added that it will also free up parking spaces for hospital patients and their family members, is on a bus line, and will free up space for new clinical programs at the hospital.
