Backus, partners target Griswold for health programs

NORWICH – The Backus Health System is partnering with local organizations to present Get Healthy, Griswold!, a new community health initiative, which will provide free screenings and programs to residents of Griswold on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 12-4:30 p.m. on the Backus Mobile Health Resource Center.
On the second Thursday of the month, the health clinic on wheels will be parked at the Griswold Town Hall. On the fourth Thursday of the month, it will be parked on the grounds of Griswold Public Schools.
The program will start on Jan. 10 and include free blood pressure screenings, low-cost TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccines for adults caring for infants, free flu vaccines and an Access to Care Specialist, who will help link those without insurance or who are underinsured with healthcare providers. The Jan. 24 session will include free blood pressure screenings, vision screenings and lead level testing.
Community partners include: Backus, Children First Griswold, Generations Family Health Center, Griswold Public Schools, Griswold Senior Services, Griswold Youth and Family Services Department, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, United Community & Family Services and Uncas Health District.
