Backus to host Lupus education seminar

NORWICH –The Backus Arthritis Center and Rheumatology Department will host “Understanding Lupus,” an educational seminar, on Tuesday, May 28, from 6- 8 p.m. at the Backus Outpatient Care Center conference room at 111 Salem Turnpike in Norwich. The program will be presented by Sandeep Varma, MD, Medical Director of the arthritis center.
Dr. Varma will educate participants about the signs and symptoms of lupus and how this medical condition can be treated.
This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required by calling (860) 425-8710. Refreshments will be provided.
Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys. It is estimated that 1.5 million Americans have this autoimmune disease.
