Backus welcomes pain medicine specialist

NORWICH – Pain medicine specialist Gaurav Kapur, MD, recently joined the medical staff at Backus Hospital and is welcoming new patients.
Dr. Kapur – who speaks English, Hindi and Punjabi – earned his medical degree at Indira Gandhi Medical School in India. He completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and a fellowship in spine medicine/pain at the Cleveland Clinic.
Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with subspecialty certification in pain medicine, Dr. Kapur’s main areas of expertise include evaluating and treating patients with acute and chronic neck/back pain, radiculopathies, disc herniations, spinal stenosis and non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. He will be performing interventional spine/pain procedures under fluoroscopy, ultrasound-guided soft tissue/joint injections and limited pain medication management.
He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the North American Spine Society, the Spine Intervention Society and the American Association of Physicians from India.
