Physician and mid-level provider opportunities
For more than 117 years, Backus Hospital has provided quality healthcare to the residents of eastern Connecticut.
Established in 1893, The William W. Backus Hospital health system includes a not-for-profit, 213-bed hospital in Norwich and numerous off-site locations, including several health centers, Backus Home Health Care and the Backus Outpatient Care Center, also in Norwich.
Conveniently located in eastern Connecticut, Backus Hospital is close to attractions on the Connecticut shoreline and is within easy driving distance to Hartford, Providence, Boston and New York City.
Leaders in Technology
Backus continues to be recognized nationally for adoption of information technology, with the latest milestone being among the best for implementing an electronic medical record (EMR).
Backus is one of only 406 hospitals nationwide being tracked to reach Stage 6 of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Analytics EMR adoption model. This milestone comes months after Backus was named a Most Wired hospital for the second year in a row. The Most Wired designation by the American Hospital Association is only given to the most technologically advanced hospitals in the U.S. and recognizes those facilities that effectively implement technology to improve patient safety, clinical quality and customer service.
Culture of Safety
Patient safety is a top priority throughout the Backus Health System. In fact, the health system is currently undergoing efforts to become a high reliability organization (HRO).
As an HRO, Backus is implementing processes to improve safety, quality and efficiencies and reduce failures.
Backus is proud to be accredited by the following independent professional organizations:
