The Junior Volunteer Program at Backus Hospital gives high school students the opportunity to explore careers in healthcare, as well as provide services to our patients and staff.

Note: At this time we are not accepting applications for the Junior Volunteer Bridge Program for this summer.  The program will only be open to those who chose to return for summer 2020 and those with scheduled interviews in 2020.   We do apologize for any disappointment and inconvenience.  Please have a safety and happy summer.

The Bridge Program Fund was developed to sustain this engaging summer program under the direction of the Junior Volunteer Coordinator. To learn more about this fund, please email us at Backus.Volunteers@hhchealth.org

The Junior Volunteer Bridge Program, funded through donor dollars, provides high school students with volunteer opportunities as well as mentorship, career development and career shadows. It is our hope junior volunteers continue on to higher education or vocational training in careers they learn about at Backus.

Junior Volunteers begin their duties after orientation in June and can continue through the school year.

Due to the uncertainties inherent with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to make definite plans for the summer 2021 Junior Volunteer Bridge program at this time. We will post the application procedures when we are able. Please keep checking this site for updates.

In the meantime, wear your mask, wash your hands, and maintain social distancing. Thank you!
