The center offers a wide variety of national, regional, and institutional-based trials. The research team attends Breast Tumor Boards to determine individual patient eligibility for clinical trials. The center is actively involved and dedicated to breast health research endeavors.
Our board-certified surgeons offer a comprehensive array of surgical options, including breast conservation and mastectomy.
Our center also offers on-site preoperative consultations with our board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss immediate versus delayed breast reconstruction options.
We partner with the most highly trained physicians at Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology.
With many years of training and experience, they offer the latest expertise in evaluating and managing breast cancer, as well as clinical trials, support groups, mentors and more.
The Backus Breast Center strives to provide the latest technology in radiation therapy at our center.
This collaborative effort allows patients to access a wide array of resources including expertly trained radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, physicists, radiation therapists, nurses along with access to clinical trials and state-of-the-art radiation treatment delivery.
Our board-certified pathologists have special expertise in breast disease, and follow the evidence-based guidelines established by the College of American Pathologists.
Our board-certified and fellowship trained breast radiologists have expertise in reading a wide range of breast imaging studies.
Our radiology department is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. Furthermore, we have accreditation in a full range of breast imaging modalities including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound–guided biopsy, and breast MRIs and MRI–guided biopsy.
