The Doctors at HHC/BACKUS HOSPITAL are top notch. Some take extreme care in dealing with your personal health care and insure us they can and will do everything in their power to help you through no matter what the outcome.

I have seen this provider only once. It's too early to evaluate if I would recommend her or not.

I was suprised as to how much detail the doctor provided for me regarding concerns for my health issues

Dr. B was very good. I felt like this was the first time I got anywhere and was going to get help.

The doctor was the most thorough I've had in years! Dr. B was asking so many questions about my past and family difficulties to get to see the real picture!

Very satisfied with all the attention she gave me

My visit with the new doctor was fine. She has a different opinion on my treatment from the doctor before her. With all the staff changes it has been difficult to stay on tract for treatment.

I cannot pronounce her name, but she is a great doctor. She’s easy to talk to. She knows her stuff. I feel very confident that she’s gonna take very good care of me. I like her and she helps me out. She understands my disease and she’s treating it well.

I absolutely loved Dr. Barjaktarovic (Dr. B). She took the time to explain everything about my kidney scan, the bloodwork needed and why. Dr. B was personable, knowledgeable and very pleasant. I highly recommend her if you are looking for an endocrinologist.

I had a wonderful experience with this doctor during and after my pregnancy. They took very good care of me and made sure I was comfortable at all times. As a new mom, I had many questions, and they were always patient, kind, and attentive. I truly appreciate their professionalism and support. I highly recommend this doctor to anyone looking for excellent care.”

I waited approximately six months to see Dr. Barjaktarovic. While the medical assistant was excellent and clearly demonstrated H3W leadership values—being accountable, caring, and inclusive—my experience with the physician was extremely disappointing. The visit felt rushed, and it was apparent that my past medical history had not been reviewed prior to the appointment. Dr. Barjaktarovic was unfamiliar with my medical history and the reason for my visit, requiring me to repeat myself multiple times while she focused on documentation rather than patient engagement. There was no clear explanation for any of my symptoms, no diagnosis was provided, and I had to request that lab work be ordered, which she reluctantly did do. I was ultimately told there was “nothing she could do” and advised to follow up with my primary care provider, despite the fact that my PCP was the referring physician. The interaction lacked accountability, compassion, and inclusive patient-centered care. I left the appointment feeling dismissed and unheard and in tears. As both a patient and a Hartford HealthCare employee, I was surprised and disappointed by the level of care I received.

Extremely disappointing experience. DEFINITELY NOT reflective of Hartford Hospital’s standards. My husband recently saw Dr Mirjana Barjaktarovic at Hartford Hospital Endocrinology Department , who apparently is new. I have never encountered a physician so unprofessional, unsympathetic, and lacking compassion. Aside from being unprofessional, rude, and dismissive, as opposed to caring. We have always had exceptional experiences with Hartford Hospital and its endocrinology team, which made this visit all the more disappointing. Despite my husband’s clear medical history and the fact that he takes Neurontin for peripheral neuropathy, she seemed unaware of this diagnosis. She did not listen to his heart, lungs, or abdomen, and never looked at his eyes, all of which are fundamental parts of a thorough endocrinology exam. We had to specifically ask her to examine his feet, which should have been routine given his neuropathy. Her approach felt rushed and cold, the complete opposite of the attentive, empathetic care we have always received from Hartford Hospital providers. Hartford Hospital has long been known for excellence and compassionate care, but unfortunately, this physician does not represent the values or high standards the hospital is known for. I truly hope the hospital reviews this feedback carefully, as patients deserve better.
