Pre-Admission Testing Center

In preparation for your surgical procedure at one of our hospitals, and in compliance with the Joint Commission, you must complete a preoperative history and physical examination within 30 days of your scheduled surgery date. This may be completed by your primary care provider or a provider at the Pre-Admission Testing Center (PATC).

In preparation for your surgery

• A registered nurse will contact you by phone within 30 days of your procedure to review your medications (including over-the-counter supplements), medical and surgical history, and ask questions about your mobility, cultural values, beliefs, and practices that may impact your care.

During your appointment

• Meet with a registered nurse and/or provider
• Receive instructions about pre-surgery medications
• Complete any required preoperative testing
• Be referred to a specialist if needed (for example, a cardiologist or pulmonologist)
